CAS -- Clean and Simple using orange, yellow, turquoise

The Clean and Simple challenge was to use three colors, orange, yellow and turquoise.

Like many people, the stamp "Inspired by Nature" is a fun stamp set for me. In adding a butterfly brad to the flower, it fit the StampinB category for the week. I used scraps from a Paper Pad I got from Michaels.

The second card is a way I used the colors and added ornaments in turquoise. I was just checking out this beautiful stamp set. I love the way it worked.

Here are two different cards I made with orange, yellow, and turquoise.

Bling, Bling, Bling

Do I LOVE bling. Finally, a challenge that is to incorporate some bling. Here are two of my submission. Watch the blog for more.

Clean and Simple Design CAS

Here is what I did today for my Clean and Simple Design -- We were to do some paper piecing, which means you add different papers in place of another part of the design. So I added flocked paper as well as designer paper (dp) to this lovely flower.

Kind and Caring Thoughts CAS19

Oh boy! I have been gone with my HORSE for the last two days. I came HOME still HEALTHY to be with my HUSBAND, HOUND, and continue my HOBBIES. My HEAVENLY Father went with me. (My 7 H's)

So back to my HOBBIES. The challenge today was to repeat an image to complete a card. I did two of them.

I decided to use the new 2009/10 hostess set "Kind and Caring Thoughts". The repeated image uses Bermuda Bay paper and ink. The flower image also has iridescent ice. The sentiment is my favorite by Mother Teresa from the SU set Morning Soft.

I added brads around the scallop to bring the eye to the center of the card.

The second is a favorite of mine. My father always walked in the house after chores and said "Coffee Mom". The only words the parakeet could say were "Coffee Mom". . . To this day, coffee is very much a social time whether it be at the local coffee shop or Starbucks with the Scrappin Grannies.

More Pink cards

Here are some cards I made with the pink, green and Kraft colors. I actually made them for the Clean and Simple, but they are hardly simple. . . or clean.

Thistle Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I made this morning for my friend, Judy. We are meeting for lunch. I made it to match the Clean and Simple Challenge. I really like this card.

The Clean and Simple challenge asked that we use pink, cameo coral, and kraft colors plus another color. The other color I used was Kiwi Kiss. the background was sponged with pirouette pink, cameo coral pink, and rose red. The wheat was stamped with kiwi kiss, the stem on the thistle is done with creamy caramel to imitate the kraft color. I did not have any SU kraft paper, so I used a color that imitated it. The thistle was stamped with rose red and touched with iridescent ice.

Color Challenge

My wonderful neighbor, Connie, was just looking at my cards. She commented that I must really like this color combination. Actually, Connie, I am just obsessive. If one is good, eight must be better. If I have time and get going on a challenge, then wake up in the am to see what I have done. The challenge this day was to use these three colors together -- Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango and Kiwi. These are all colors that Stampin Up sells. They are being retired in a month. I will miss them. . .lots

So here are all the cards I did for that challenge.

Baroque Motif Towel

Ok -- this is the last towel I am doing. I must have an obsession about towels. It stormed last night and I was up most of the night listening to the thunder and rain, and cleaning up the water with towels because my husband left the door open.

More Beach Towls

Another clean and simple card with the beach towels as the inspiration. I am really getting in to this inspiration thing. I tend to be very concrete and try to duplicate as much as possible. I am not sure this is good, but it is ME.

Fancy Butterfly

This Clean and Simple Challenge was to use towels from Land End as an inspiration. I used the child's towel that had a big pink butterfly to cover her head.

There is nothing easier than using a Sizzix die. You can cut 4 at once. Because I also used the Nesties for background support, it took a little more time, but not much.

But, then I wanted to make a "softer" look. So I used a Cuttlebug Embossing folder, cut out some flowers I embossed, and used my Martha Stewart punch. Now, some of my students are going to LOVE this card. They love the Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

I have many greetings already done, so making a greeting takes no time.

Big Bold Beach Towels

I have trouble with Clean and Simple. These challenges are to stretch us and have us do something we might not do. I am going to do a couple more and see if I can go even MORE clean and simple.

This Clean and Simple Challenge was to use Land's End beach towels as inspiration. I looked at them all. The beach towel with large bold daisy's caught my eye. When I went to my flower stash, I had three of these HUGE flowers. I needed a get well card to take to the hospital tomorrow, so here it is. I also decided this week I am going to try to use some of my butterfly "stuff". People seem to love butterflies.

Here is the towel I used.

Challenges for the Week-- CAS Clean and Simple Design

The challenge for the week was to take a card we had made, and make it simpler and easier to make. Perhaps, one that could be mass produced in a short period of time. Now, for me that IS a challenge. I am REALLY trying to come up with SIMPLE cards that look GREAT -- and have a WOW factor. You see, I don't like my cards if someone doesn't say "WOW"!

So -- I am going to post two samples.

The first has many layers.

The second is very clean and simple. I also do like it -- I might do a different texture but keep it simple like this one.

CAS14 Rock and Roll

On SpitCoastStampers.com there are challenges. This challenge was to create a clean and simple design with a technique called "Rock and Roll." I made three cards for this challenge. My mother always said "Practice Makes Perfect" but it is really "Perfect practice makes perfect". So I am working on PERFECT PRACTICE.
