Bird Flying IC182

Some time in your life, life is hard. It happens to all of us. This card is for my friend who has a tough time right now. There is light after darkness.

The inspiration challenge for splitcoaststampers.com (SCS) was to take a book cover as your inspiration. I really had never really looked at things around me to inspire me to make a card, but SCS has stretched me. Here is the book and the resulting card.

I love to make cards with birds. I have this bird adapted. If you want a copy, e-mail me at jofacets@gmail.com. Give me your e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you.

Totally Tool #2

I decided that my hinged card was too busy, or something. I love this stamp set, so I made another card for tonights birthday party.

Here it is. Which one do you like better -- the hinge card or the 2nd card?

I just got home from playing cards with the neighbors. I had made this card for his birthday. I have never seen any man so thrilled with a card -- he was so thrilled that he decided that the card was going to be framed. What a compliment.

Totally Tool

I LOVED this challenge. Finding the stamp set that "fit" patterns was fun. Finding the paper to fit the tools was fun.
Doing the project was fun.

I combined two challenges, because I wanted to make a hinged card from the New Technique challenge. The the Limited Supplies Challenge where we could only use pattern paper was a hoot.

Note: The grey on some of the tools does not look like a pattern paper, but it is -- it is a background paper with various colors throughout.

Father's Day Vest

I went to Kristin Lovig's for card making and we had a swap. Wanda Smith made a cute card with a vest. I took the vest idea, designed my own pattern and came up with this card for the WT Challenge. If you want my vest pattern, please e-mail me.

I will e-mail you the directions --

Challenges for the Week-- CAS Clean and Simple Design

The challenge for the week was to take a card we had made, and make it simpler and easier to make. Perhaps, one that could be mass produced in a short period of time. Now, for me that IS a challenge. I am REALLY trying to come up with SIMPLE cards that look GREAT -- and have a WOW factor. You see, I don't like my cards if someone doesn't say "WOW"!

So -- I am going to post two samples.

The first has many layers.

The second is very clean and simple. I also do like it -- I might do a different texture but keep it simple like this one.

I took the weekend off.

Again -- for those who know me, my 6- H's are very important to me -- Husband, Home, Hobbies, Hound, Heavenly Father and Horses. This weekend was my time for my horses. Here is a picture of me with my girl, Fanny In the Dirt. Ok -- enough about that -- back to H for HOBBIES.

Limited Supplies Challenge

This week we were to do a limited supplies called CIRCLES - Everything had to be circles. And we could only use ONE stamp set. Because I love texture, I had to use my Cuttlebug Embossing Folders -- of course, the ones with circles -- (dots and spots, swiss dots, soft swirls) Then I used my Nesties to made my scallops and other graduated circles. The stamped image and greeting are from an acrylic set that I have had for some years. I have lost the brand, but it could be Technique Tuesday.

It's late. So I think I'll circle the bed and go to sleep. Have a good weekend.

Pam Nablo's Card

How much fun is this. We go to a class, and we SWAP cards. Pam Nablo made this wonderful card. I have seen other cards she has made and I LOVE them. . . Yeah Pam.

Graduation Owl

Here is a graduation card and the instructions. I have uploaded this before, but I noticed that it is gone. It is graduation time. My grandson just got this card and a little bit of $$$$. . . My son would always say to me when he got money -- right color, wrong size. . . That's an old one.

SC Spring Song

The Sketch Challenge today gave me an opportunity to get out my new bird stamps -- Hummingbird and sparrow. I worked with the Hummingbird, but will have to cut it out to make it conform to the sketch. But the Sparrow worked well. Note, I reversed the sketch which you can do in the challenge.

I will make several of these.

Kristin Swap

I went to Kristin's last night. I love to go to other SU Demonstrator's to meet other people as obsessed as I am to making cards. They have such good ideas. I only had an hour and a half to make 10 cards to swap. Here is what I did. And, yes, I was 20 minutes late.

I will eventually learn how to make 20 minute cards.

Oh boy -- Color Challenge

This one was HARD HARD HARD for me. Use Brilliant Blue, Only Orange and Regal Rose in a card. I would NEVER use those colors together, until now. It was Color Challenge 219.

Here is what I did.

B&W and Something Bright

I LOVE B&W -- the CAS challenge this week from SplitcoastStampers.com was to use Black and White and Something BOLD --(to me that means "Bright")

So here are some of my ideas:

Pink and Brown IC180

I was so tickled. Yesterday I had found all of my pink and brown ribbons and decided this weekend was going to be pink and brown weekend. And then the SCS Inspiration Challenge-- a room full of pink and brown -- and flowers. So I got to use my new SU Textured Impression Die (Embossing Folder) and started making pink and brown cards.

This first was not easy for me as I felt I had the proportions way off. So I kept adding more and more "stuff" until I felt it was as good as I was going to get it. I couldn't stop. I had to finish it off by adding SU Crystal Effects and Irridescent Ice. Here it is.

I have added a couple more.

Now, I am adding the rest.

SBSC 190 Scrapbook page

o
For those who know me, you know how my horses are important to me. When this sketch challenge came up, I immediately thought of the new photos I got of Fanny. I decided to use the Faux bandanna technique and the red and white gingham. I had just received my new Wild West Stamp set, and wanted to use it as well. Wow! Do I love that stamp set. I stamped it in black Stazon and then used the SU markers (that matches the paper) to color them in. I then used the “Faux Bandanna” technique with a white marker to tie it to the red bandanna.

This is one of my horses, Fanny In the Dirt, an own daughter of the famous Hollywood Dun It -- I used the Faux Bandanna Technique and some paper piercing.

LSC220 Life's a beach

SplitCoastStampers.com's Limited Supplies Challenge was to make a card with a beach scene . . .with one greeting, one embellishment and one one layer. I had no stamp for beach scenes. My supplies WERE limited. So I used punches. I am putting the punch info up just of those who have never used punches to make a scene. The waves were made with circle and oval punches. In addition I added embossing paste to give it texture. And what ocean does not have a school of fish? I had trouble keeping the embellishments down -- Once I opened my brad box, they shouted "use me". . .so how could I not?

Sesame Street Again

I have people in my class wanting to see the Sesame Street Card Again. So here it is and the instructions.

Hello Kitty Paper Piecing, Sketch Challenge

This is a paper piecing -- punch art of Hello Kitty. I remember my neices loving this. Now, my granddaughters love it. So hopefully, they will love this card. This was done for the Sketch Challenge (SC) for Splitcoaststampers.com

Here are the three cards for the Color Challenge. The challenge was to make cards with Kiwi Green, Pumpkin Pie (orange), and Summer Sun (yellow). I tried three different styles. The only one I really like is the scene in the garden.

Invitation -- TLC220 -- Faux Bandanna

Here is an invitation with a faux bandanna technique. This is a great invitation.

White on White with CuttleBug

I wanted to do this card with lots of texture. I did the white one first. I can hardly wait to do this one in a variety of colors.

CAS14 Rock and Roll

On SpitCoastStampers.com there are challenges. This challenge was to create a clean and simple design with a technique called "Rock and Roll." I made three cards for this challenge. My mother always said "Practice Makes Perfect" but it is really "Perfect practice makes perfect". So I am working on PERFECT PRACTICE.

Golden Oldies and Sex

I couldn't help myself. I had to make this card -- and share it -- before I gave it to one of our friends.

My Mother and her Garden

My mother loves to garden . . .It doesn't make any difference what it is, flowers, vegetabes, weeds -- whatever, just so she has her hands in the soil. So when I bought this set, I decided it was for my mother. Wow! I love to use the "build a scene" model and water color.

Here are several of my creations. I have 5 more stamped ready to "paint". .

Help Fire -- Inspiration Challenge

Yet, another inspiration challenge. IC179. We are to use a pillow to inspire a card. Here is the pillow I chose. And the 12X12 page. This page will become a card. I will take a picture and the picture will go on the card and the 12X12 page will go in the grandchild's picture.
