Featured Stamper
Every Sunday, there is a featured stamper. And, no, it wasn't me. It was DawnL.
We were to pick a card of hers and CASE it -- Copy and Share Everything.
Here is hers and mine. Note: Mine is the first one of the pair, and Dawn's is the second one.

LSC horses
This was the Limited Supplies Challenge.
The Limited Supply Challenge asked that we do a masculine card with at least one element inthe following categories:
Menu #1 – Images (just pick one item from each menu!)
1. Planes, Trains, & Automobiles – basically anything with locomotion (this would include boats, too!)
2. Non-floral Nature
3. Neutral Images (stuff that isn’t girly, for sure) . .
Menu #2 – Color Schemes (are ya still with me, friends??)
1. Reds/Blues
2. Greens/Browns
3. Neutrals
Menu #3 – Embellishments (this is where it can get tricky!)
1. Ribbon & Brads OR Eyelets (tie masculine KNOTS instead of girly BOWS)
2. Diecuts/Punches & Embossing Folders/Texture Plates
3. Natural Fibers & Hardware (hodpodge, charms, etc.)
I used nature, greens and browns, eyelets.
Much of this card is the first time I have done some of these techniques.

California here I come
I have finally made it to California. I lived here for over 20 years, then moved back to Iowa. My friends, Kathie and Debbie got me scrapping. We would meet at one of our homes once a month to scrap for at least 2 days. Now, who doesn't want to go to Solvang (near Santa Barbara), Irvine (near Long Beach). They weren't real crazy about coming to Bakersfield in the middle of the 105 degree summer.
We became the Scraping Grannies. We even had bets who was going to be the first ACTUAL grannie. I won. We now have many grandchildren.
We now try to get together at least 2 times per year, for a week or so at a time. So here we are, scrapping again.

Bright and Bold Color Challenge
The Color Challenge was to use two retiring colors, Pacific Blue and Tango Tangerine along with SunShine Yellow and come up with a layout.
I immediately thought of my fish die cut I had JUST received from Sizzix. So here is the busy and loud submission. I laugh when I look at it.
Then, I decided to use a die cut Daisy to make a flower.
Lastly, I needed a little bit easier on the eye, so I did a card with lots of white.

Inspired by Nature and Care Bears
This challenge was to find a card from the featured stamper and CASE it -- which means to Copay and Share Everything. So here is the card I cased. I loved it. I will admit, I did not know how Christy did her technique, so I made up my own.
I loved Christy's card "Care Bears Inspired". I did not know her technique that she used, but worked on masking the image last night. What a laugh -- couldn't do it. I tried again this a.m. with inking only the area I wanted to stamp. Thank goodness for the Stamp-a-ma-jig. That seemed to work.
Changes: I changed the color of pink and green. I used a punch (Martha Stewary) to make a stencil so I could sponge the butterflies. I used CB embossing folder and inked it to imitate her background. I used CB and paper to imitate the ribbon. I also added brads, just in case the adhesive decided to fail me.
I did make about 6 different sentiments for this card, in case I didn't want a "thank you" when I send it. (I do this often).

IC185 INSPIRATION
It is very late, but I wanted to upload these cards. This was the Saturday inspiration challenge from SplitCoastStampers.com. The inspiration was a web site with children's shoes -- funny, creative shoes. We are to take an image as our inspiration.
I would have liked to spend hours with my punch, punching different characters, but I need to sleep and tomorrow is the annual day with the whole family.
So, these are the ones I got done.
Here is the web site:

I uploaded the inspiration picture and the card I did.

Another Bird -- Wings of FriendShip -- NEW NEW NEW
Simplicity for Kathie M
Ok -- my very good friend and part of the Scrappin Grannies, Kathie, likes CAS (Clean and Simple). I have a difficult time doing CAS.
So for Kathie, I am working on Clean and Simple. Actually, isn't doing things that are foreign to you what "challenging yourself" is all about. So I am challenging myself to do some cards that are CAS.
Perhaps, when I am in California scrappin' with Kathie next week, I can get her to get "noisy" with her cards.
Wish me luck. . . LOL

Kind and Caring Thoughts, WT233
I have fallen in love with the New IN COLOR Soft Suede. I also like the hostess set of SU's Kind and Caring Thoughts. I wanted to see what I could do with just Soft Suede and white.
This is the result. I love placing sentiments so they become part of the design.
How did I do this:
Note: I took Whisper White cs and used CB embossing folders (Swiss Dots, Bird and Swirls. I then turned the image over. Using the brayer and Soft Suede ink, I inked the negative side. This gives the brown and white look.
The single flower image has been stamped three times. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I then went back and stamped VersaMark and used clear EP on the three flowers.
Rustic Rooster WT223
This morning at 3:30 am I was working on different ways I could stamp and color the Rustic Rooster. I thought and thought about the sentiment. I didn't like the card, I couldn't figure out a sentiment. Then I went to bed. This am, my DH announced he liked this rooster card the best. After 4 hours of sleep and confirmation from my DH, the sentiment "Wake Up Call" came to my mind . . .
So this is a computer generated "text".
I loved this rooster, so I ended up making 3 different cards. Here is the last one for this day -- no more roosters.
This is similar to M. Zindorf -- I used Stazon ink
http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/
The way I did the rooster: USE Stamp-a-ma-jig
• Using Stazon Stamp off Once, then stamped the rooster
• Using Inks and Aqua Blender, colored the rooster
• Using Stazon, stamped the top color I wanted (brown in this case)
• Using VersaMark -- stamped over rooster
• Emboss with Clear Embossing Powder (EP)
• Heat set EP

SC233 Scene New In Colors 09
I have three cards for this challenge and sketch. I want to thank Pam N from our stamp group at Kristin's for the lesson on brayering the back of CB embossing folders. I love the technique. Note this technique on the first and last cards.
On the last card, I decided to used most of the new colors for a sneak peak in this Sketch Challenge. In addition, I added Old Olive.
The sketch was fun to work with, but I really got obsessed with more and more layers. Without the cut out images there are 15 layers. Took a little bit of time. I guess I can't submit for a Clean and Simple challenge. Nor, do I think I will make it to swap any time soon.
(My students will know this is NOT a 20 minute card. The image took longer than 20 minutes to cut out. )

Turquoise and Red? Color Challenge 223
Ok -- which of us makes cards with turquoise red? Well, today, a bunch of us. The color challenge today were to use two specific colors, a red and a turquoise. The color combination is not one I would have every put together without this challenge. So here are two of mine.
I like the one with the birds. The other one looks better than the picture. (My camera broke, so am back to using an inferior camera). . .

Kind and Caring Thoughts CAS19
Oh boy! I have been gone with my HORSE for the last two days. I came HOME still HEALTHY to be with my HUSBAND, HOUND, and continue my HOBBIES. My HEAVENLY Father went with me. (My 7 H's)
So back to my HOBBIES. The challenge today was to repeat an image to complete a card. I did two of them.
I decided to use the new 2009/10 hostess set "Kind and Caring Thoughts". The repeated image uses Bermuda Bay paper and ink. The flower image also has iridescent ice. The sentiment is my favorite by Mother Teresa from the SU set Morning Soft.
I added brads around the scallop to bring the eye to the center of the card.
The second is a favorite of mine. My father always walked in the house after chores and said "Coffee Mom". The only words the parakeet could say were "Coffee Mom". . . To this day, coffee is very much a social time whether it be at the local coffee shop or Starbucks with the Scrappin Grannies.

Inspiration 184 -- packaging
The Inspiration Challenge this week was to look at some packaging on the following website and get inspiration to make a card. Here are my cards and the packaging that I chose as my inspiration. I find it much easier to design cards when I have an inspiration or a sketch. . . rather than no direction.
The green card was suppose to be Tic Tack Toe. But, I didn't like it. So I changed it to make it Air, Water, Land -- Can you tell I do preschool curriuculum?
http://lovelypackage.com
Can you tell I love my CuttleBug Embossing Folders. Now, Sizzix has come out with some pretty ones as has Spellbinders. Before the weekend is over, I will have new ones ordered.
Monogram
I have been wanting to make cards with a monogram, and StampinB design team had that challenge this week. I had some extra faux bandanna pockets I had made some weeks ago, so decided to use it. I was in the cowgirl mood.
The edge punch is rick rack design by EK Success. I have 5 layers of zig zag. The letter "M" for Meyer, Matt, Mark, Mom, etc. is from the Wild West Alphabet set by Stampin UP.

LSC244, Socks, new colors, Forest Friends
Today the challenge was LIMITED SUPPLIES -- Now, you can't accuse ME of having LIMITED supplies. My studio looks like a store. But, the rules were I HAD to use brads, some sort of fiber, and paper piercing. Then we could use any any other embellishment and any theme we wanted.
Well, of course, I have two favorite themes -- Horse or Husband. This time it was my horse.
Also, I just received the new colors and some stamps and had to try them out. So I did one with Forest Friends and one with all of my Cuttlebug folders and Nesties.
Here are the three cards I made
This is a picture card with only browns, greens or blues. . .

Sydne's Inspiration Room
I loved the inspiration from the Design DAZZLE website, (IC183). And so did my 6 year old and 7 year old granddaughters. They each picked a room they wanted me to do. And then they told me how they wanted it to look. Sydney (6) is the designer of this one. I about died. She wanted the window, and the ferns, and her looking through the window. I told her I could do it, but it would take some time.
If you want to look at the website where Sydney picked her "inspiration room", here it is.
